Have faith that God will work it all out

"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." Romans 8:28

When we see the world news and how much strife and discord there is, we can lose hope. Life can be so unfair, and our individual circumstances may be a struggle. Perhaps our job is disappointing, or we lack a job. A relationship has gone wrong, or we are struggling with our health. At times like this, we cry, "Where are you, God!"  

I've found the Bible to be so helpful at times like this, giving hope even when all seems dark. Esther in the Old Testament is a good example. A brave Jewish queen risks her life for her people. Surprisingly, God is not mentioned at all in the story, but he is at work behind the scenes throughout. We see God in the ordinary coincidences of life and the decisions people make. Knowing God is at work even when we can't see it brings lasting hope when we're confronted with life's challenges and so much bad news in the world. Don't forget to make prayer the first thing you do when facing seemingly impossible or intractable situations, and ask the God of hope to lift your spirits.  

The story of Esther also tells us God placed Esther in particular circumstances for a purpose. Esther was made queen at just that time in history, as the Bible says: "for such a time as this?" (Esther 4:14). Just as He did for Esther, imagine how hopeful you would become if you recognised the specific purpose God has for your life. No matter how old or how young you are or whatever your situation, like Esther, God has placed you there. Can you be like Esther and have faith that He will work it out and help you do good in your situation?  

So whenever you are troubled by what's going on in the world, remember that God is always there to call on. We can view our circumstances differently when we believe that God has placed us exactly where we are for a purpose.
